Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how FitLog - Workout Journal ("we", "us", or "the App") handles information when you use our Android application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Data You Provide

The App allows you to log and track your workout activity, including:

• Workout sessions with dates, workout types, duration, calories burned, and notes
• Custom workout types and the exercises they contain
• Your exercise library and the sets you perform (repetitions, weights, durations, distances, rest times, and notes)
• Body weight readings you choose to enter
• Workout goals (monthly, yearly) and planned workouts

All of this data is stored locally on your device using an on-device database (Room/SQLite). We do not transmit, collect, or have access to your workout data on any server. Body weight and workout details are health and fitness information; like everything else you enter, they never leave your device unless you export or back them up yourself.

1.2 App Preferences

The App stores your preferences locally on your device, including:

• Display theme (dark or light mode) and app language
• Weight unit and display options (such as showing calories and duration, and dashboard goals)
• How rest days count toward your streak
• Reminder settings (daily reminder time and backup reminder schedule)
• Whether you have purchased Premium, so the App can remove ads while offline

These preferences are stored using Android DataStore and never leave your device.

1.3 Information Collected by Third-Party Services

The App integrates third-party services that may independently collect certain information. See Section 3 for details.

2. How We Use Information

Your locally stored workout data is used solely to:

• Display your workout history and calendar view
• Generate monthly and yearly workout statistics and charts
• Track progress toward your workout goals and planned workouts
• Show your streak, personal records, and body-weight trend
• Show reminders you enable and the home-screen widget, if you add it
• Export your data to PDF or Excel files saved to your device
• Create and restore local backup files saved to your device

We do not use your workout data for analytics, advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than providing the App's core functionality to you.

3. Third-Party Services

3.1 Google AdMob

The App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and process certain data in accordance with Google's privacy practices, including:

• Device identifiers (e.g., advertising ID)
• IP address
• General device information (model, OS version, screen size)
• Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)

This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us. You can learn more about how Google uses this information in the Google Privacy Policy and manage your ad preferences in your device's Settings > Google > Ads.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the App asks for your consent before any personalized advertising is served, using Google's User Messaging Platform. No ads are requested until you have answered. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized and the advertising identifier will not be used to profile you. You can change your answer at any time from Settings > Privacy options inside the App. Outside these regions no consent prompt is shown, and the ad preferences in your device settings continue to apply.

3.2 Google Play Billing

The optional one-time Premium purchase is processed entirely by Google Play. We never receive your payment details; the App only asks Google Play whether the purchase is owned. Your purchase is handled under the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Play Terms of Service.

3.3 Google Play In-App Updates

The App asks Google Play whether a newer version is available so it can offer to update. This check is performed by Google Play on your device and does not include any of your workout data.

4. Data Storage and Security

• Local storage only: All your workout data and preferences are stored exclusively on your device.
• No cloud sync: The App does not upload your data to any cloud service or remote server.
• Backup files: When you use the backup feature, a JSON file containing all of your App data and preferences is saved to a location you choose on your device. You are responsible for the security of exported and backup files.
• No account required: The App does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The App itself does not use cookies or tracking technologies. However, Google AdMob may use advertising identifiers and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. These are managed by Google and subject to Google's policies. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, whether these identifiers are used for personalization depends on the consent choice described in Section 3.1.

The App does not use any analytics SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics or Google Analytics) and does not track your usage behavior.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal or workout data with any third party. The only data that leaves your device is:

• Information collected by Google AdMob for ad serving
• Purchase status checks and update checks made through Google Play, described in Sections 3.2 and 3.3
• Standard network requests required for the above services (requiring INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permissions)

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App is a general-purpose fitness tracking tool intended for use by adults and older teens.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

8. Your Rights and Choices

• Delete your data: You can delete all your data at any time by clearing the App's data in your device settings or by uninstalling the App.
• Export your data: You can export your workout data to PDF or Excel format.
• Edit or delete individual records: Any session, goal, plan, exercise, or weight reading can be edited or deleted inside the App.
• Control personalized ads: If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the App asks for your consent before showing personalized ads, and you can change that choice at any time from Settings > Privacy options inside the App. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized. Wherever you are, you can also adjust your device's ad settings (Settings > Google > Ads).

9. Permissions

The App requests the following Android permissions:

• INTERNET: Required for loading advertisements (AdMob).
• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to check network availability before loading ads.
• WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 9 and below) / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below): Used for exporting data files to device storage on older Android versions.
• POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Used to show the workout and backup reminders you enable in Settings.
• RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Used to re-schedule those reminders after the device restarts.

The App's libraries also declare supporting permissions that you are never asked to grant: billing (Google Play purchases), foreground service and wake lock (the scheduler that delivers reminders), and the advertising identifier used by AdMob as described in Section 3.1.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
